The Return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU as Dr. Doom

Kevin Feige, the mastermind behind the MCU said that Robert Downey Jr. led to the iconic “Let’s Get Victor Von Doom Right“.” Instead of making a return as Tony Stark, he may reportedly take on the role of the evil Victor Von Doom. What does that mean for the MCU and its fans though?

Why “Let’s Get Victor Von Doom Right” Matters

Kevin Feige’s “make sure we get Victor Von Doom right” comment isn’t merely about ensuring a comic book Doctor Doom is translated for a film. The conversation instead suggests a bigger plan, the way Feige and Amy Pascal (who was involved with those Spiderverse movies) originally dreamed up Tony Stark designing Spider-Man’s suit to set off our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler’s MCU story arc. It looks like Feige wants him to fit into the MCU by way of Tony Stark’s legacy.

Doctor Doom Theories For Debut

As per rumors and theories, too there’s the discussion that Robert Downey Jr. may play Doctor Doom in “Fantastic Four: First Family” film. This version of Doctor Doom worked directly with Reed Richards as played by Pedro Pascal, forging a significant link between the two. This iteration of Doom would not be Tony Stark, but rather a character who looks just like him and helps the Fantastic Four fight Galactus every while upon learning about an impending multiversal threat.

Doom as an Anchor Being

The “Anchor Being” has been a fascinating enigma within the vast Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). “Much like Logan was the glue that held together an increasingly Fox Marvel Universe and whose death is what led to it falling apart, the question begs to be asked: who/what is MCU’s Wolverine?” This title is assumed by many to belong, rightfully or not, to Robert Downey Jr.’ If Dr. Doom was drawn as a horse head of state with aspirations for world supremacy, he might play this to his plus.

Doctor Doom Arrangement Difficulties

Doctor Doom Is Coming To The MCU, But Not Just In Fantastic Four: First Family, the film will likely provide a critical multiverse connection to the larger storyline Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom could debut in this movie. The timing of his casting announcement during the filming of “Fantastic Four” may not be arbitrary. After all, Downey Jr.’s turn as Doom before the “Avengers: Doomsday” event would be quite a helluva way to bring Rand back to Marvel.
