Tensions Rise as Iran Vows Revenge for Hamas Chief’s Death

Tehran, Iran — The news of the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has provoked an angry outcry in Iran, where the government officially holds Israel responsible for the killing and declares that it will take revenge. Despite the strong words, Iran has not launched a direct attack on Israel, likely due to the support Israel receives from the United States. It is rumored, therefore, that Iran might choose a subtler way to strike against Israel.

Iran, reportedly, will use its proxy organizations in a major attack against Israel. Experts believe that Iran will not pick a direct fight with Israel since their previous efforts to do so were foiled because of American and Allied backing for Israel; as a rejoinder, Iran operates through its proxy organizations like Hezbollah to execute the attacks.

Hezbollah, a key Iranian ally, has already started attacks from the Lebanon border. Other groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Lebanon, the Houthi militants in Yemen, the Syrian National Council, and the Badr Organization in Iraq could also join the conflict at Iran’s command. Analysts say that if all of Iran’s proxy groups attack simultaneously, it could pose a significant challenge for Israel.

Despite what Iran is planning, Israel is ready. In a previous incident where Hezbollah planned to launch 6,000 rockets against Israel, Israeli forces were able to destroy 1,000 launchers in twenty minutes. This confined the attack to 340 rockets. This highlights the strong defense capabilities of Israel.

Iran has also readied its missiles and drones for a possible attack on Israel. It plans to launch drones from locations in Syria, including near Damascus, and from the deserts of Syria. Meanwhile, missiles have been placed on 12 sites in western Iran, ready to attack.

The U.S. is closely monitoring the situation and working with its allies in the Middle East to strengthen Israel’s security. Meetings between American and Arab military officials have been held in Washington to discuss potential Iranian retaliation and to reinforce Israel’s defenses. The U.S. has deployed 34 warships, fighter jets, and submarines in the region to counter any possible threat from Iran or its proxies.

With tensions running high, the world watches to see how this conflict will unfold and what the next moves will be from Iran, Israel, and their respective allies.
