Belfast, Ireland – Passengers who signed up for a three-year cruise around the world are expressing their frustration as their ship, the Villa Vie Odyssey, remains stuck in the harbor. The cruise was supposed to start in May, but the ship has been undergoing repairs for the past three months.

Another couple, Johan Bodin and Lanette Canen, had relocated from Maui, Hawaii, to join the cruise. They have been traveling around Europe while waiting for the ship to be ready. “We planned to spend the next few years on this cruise, but now we’re just waiting,” Bodin said.
Mikael Petterson, the CEO of Villa Vie Residences, explained that the ship was 30 years old and needed unexpected repairs. “The rudder stocks took six weeks to fix, and now we’re dealing with a few other issues. But we expect the ship to depart by the week of September 9,” he said.
Passengers are allowed on the ship during the day but must stay in hotels at night. The cruise is advertised to visit 475 destinations in 147 countries, and the cost of an all-inclusive cabin starts at around $100,000.
For now, passengers are left waiting and hoping that their journey will soon begin.
