Doctor Doom, or Victor von Doom, is a character of unparalleled intellect. So much so that no telepath will go into his mind and he could easily overpower the Hulk. He has absorbed the abilities of beings who could wipe out multiverses. But for all this, there’s one big flaw with Doctor Doom—his arrogance.
Doctor Doom is not only a genius but a master of many fields: scientist and inventor with superhuman intelligence, creating innumerable doomsday machines and robots. Even his creations, the Doom Bots, are under his control. He is often portrayed as having intellect on par with Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). Take, for example, restoring The Thing’s human form; this is something Reed always wanted to do but couldn’t. In the MCU, Doctor Doom’s greatest scientific talent might be his power to steal or replicate cosmic beings‘ powers. He has stolen Silver Surfer‘s powers and even those of the Beyonder. At one point he even stole Galactus‘ worlds.
Furthermore, Doctor Doom’s sorcery is mentioned as another key aspect of his power. A magician himself, he learned magic from the books and artifacts left by his mother— a sorceress. He later honed his skills through training under Tibetan monks and also with his beau, Morgan Le Fay (who is another powerful sorceress). Using this knowledge, he can absorb energy, cast protective shields, heal himself, teleport between dimensions, and even summon demons. At the ancient magic tournament, Doom lost to Dr. Strange— who is also known as the Sorcerer Supreme. Thanks to his sorcery knowledge, Doom is a step above your average super-genius like Stark, Richards, or Pym who steer clear of magic.
Doctor Doom is known for his willpower. It is incredibly strong; a lot of powerful telepaths and mind controllers can’t touch his mind. For instance, he kept Emma Frost out of his head with just a word. Even Charles Xavier finds him difficult to control. Doom has mastered the ability to transfer his consciousness to another body; he does not fear death. The armor enhances strength, provides durability at a superhuman level, and helps withstand attacks from beings like The Thing, Hulk, and even Spider-Man. It also aids him in combat as well as long-range tactics. Attacks from cosmic beings can be withstood by this armor; also, it protects him from matter manipulation, reality-warping, and psychic effects. It has high-tech weapons and can generate defensive force fields as well.
So, in conclusion: an ego like Tony Stark — with a kingdom of his own. But he can’t rule the world with that kind of arrogance, and rightfully so because his character has to be one of the most multifaceted big-bads in Marvel.
