A high school football star has died after sustaining a brain injury when he collided with another player. Bronte’s school and family have since confirmed the news.
In a Facebook post, his mother Arsella Slagel Tellier wrote: ‘Everyone who knows Caden has had kindness, or love and been shown just how wonderful of a young man he truly is. In typical fashion, he is giving of himself one more time.
“His life could touch other lives, and then his death will save another life,” she explained.
The exact details of the incident are unclear. A GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral expenses has already raised $75,000 of its $100,000 goal. The page mentions that Caden died from a “traumatic brain injury” and that he was an organ donor.
Bryan Oliver, the headmaster at Morgan Academy said in a statement: “There are no words that can adequately convey our sadness for grieving families. With a heavy heart, I have to inform you that Caden Tellier has gone on with his Lord and Saviour. “Caden loved the Lord with all his heart and was a shining light every day that he walked through the halls of Morgan Academy.
Alabama Independent School Association executive director Michael McLendon supported the decision to cancel classes and activities for a week. He explained that this would allow time for the community to gather, reflect, and be there with others during this very sad moment.
