Angry after a toddler was locked in the plane toilet by strangers

Two women on a domestic trip in China kept a weeping infant inside the airplane restroom, which caused outcry and controversy. When one of the women, Gou Tingting, uploaded a video of herself escorting the distraught girl into the cubicle, the episode went viral on the Chinese internet.

Gou wrote in her article that she was attempting to assist others on board, but the criticism came quickly. The girl’s grandmother had granted the two women permission to “educate her,” the airline subsequently disclosed. On August 24, on a Juneyao Airlines flight from Guiyang to Shanghai, the incident happened.

The youngster was shown on camera being told by the other woman that she could only leave the bathroom if she stopped weeping. Gou came under fire from many who felt that she was bullying the youngster and lacked empathy, while some supported the women’s conduct. Some voiced worries about the girl’s psychological effects and demanded improved strategies for taking care of young children in public areas.

This event brings to light the ongoing discussion in China about how to deal with pampered children, or “bear children,” who cause trouble in public areas. Some nations, like South Korea, have declared particular areas to be child-free, and some public transportation systems have even included kid-only sections.
